Want to Beat the Chicago Cubs at their Game?

 The Cubs Central Baseball Scene

The Cubs have made it in 2007, but they are now facing the challenge of the spring preview. The stars - Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, and Zambrano are top favorites, but other team members can equally dominate the game well. But Baseman de Rosa has to take it easy though because he just had heart surgery for irregular heartbeat, but that does not stop him from playing ball.

This heady 2007 triumph propelled the Cubs towards the limelight and to the hearts of many females. These made for brisk sales of fully licensed Chicago Cubs gear. The same goes for fans of other Division teams who are ready to grab Milwaukee Brewers merchandise, St. Louis Cardinals merchandise, Houston Astros merchandise, and Cincinnati Reds merchandise. You’ll also find them online.

The Cubs may be reeling from previous losses, but their fans have staunchly stood by to give them inspiration to play a mean and spirited game. When they made it in 2007, this fueled a happy roar at the bleachers.

What It Takes to Be a Baseball Player

Do you want to be a baseball player? If you read the biographies of the top players, their childhood fixation with the game jumps at you. Most of the guys out there have played ball in school, or were taught to bat by eager dads before they could even spell their names right.

Many of them are sons of baseball fans. However, this is not a ticket to ride to the championship. Like them, you have to go through hoops to get into the school team.

So what should you do to be a baseball player?
* Know how the game is played
* Know the rules
* Have perfect vision
* Have alert reflexes
* Possess courage
* Have the time to practice everyday
* Give up your social life

Unfair as it may sound, you can’t be overweight, or you can’t run to the last base. There is absolutely nothing you can do about this.

Not All About Strength and Speed

Don’t play the game if you’re afraid of head injuries, losing your teeth, and breaking an arm or leg. That’s how physical baseball players can get. Veteran players admit that the game is not always about speed or strength. Like playing poker, you have to use strategies to surge ahead, or to thwart the defensive team. You need to think fast on the ground while coordinating leg, arms, and hands.

Don’t attempt to be baseball player if you cannot make important decisions fast while remembering all the rules. Everything must be within limits - you cannot blatantly skewer another player or you’ll face suspensions, lose points, and pay stiff fines.

Any infraction of the rules can cause you money worries and the forfeiture of participating in the season’s games. You also have to be careful of your personal and public life. You must, at all cost, avoid breaking traffic rules, avoid driving under the influence, and driving your car like a maniac. It seems you have to be a saint on the road and a devil on the field and never the twain should meet.

A Day in the Life of a Racer

So what does a baseball player do when there’s no game? Most likely he’s doing most of the things you do - go to the grocers with the wife (if married), walk the dogs, shop for clothes, watch a movie, or go to the baseball games. They are baseball fans, too, and rabid ones at that.

They go to parties, talk non-stop about the upcoming games, exercise and watch their weights, and do other mundane things you’d never expect glamorous athletes would do. They would check their gear, talk to their coach and the team members, and give interviews.

Whatever they do, they must be clear-eyed and sane on the day of race. If you are going to win millions of dollars for the team, why risk your game? They can never sleep after a win because there is another game to tackle. Until the season is over, they can’t breathe a sigh of relief - but hold on, they’ll continue to train for the next season.

This can be a drag, if you do not have the stamina to be doing the routine while everybody is having fun. But if you want to beat the Cubs at their own game, you will have to give up some of the things you love - eating steak and downing Miller Lites with the boys. If you can take this ticket to success, you’ll beat them any day now.
